Into Arcadia came together in 2006 when founding members Otto Ohlsson and Kenny Buesing put together the first few incarnations of the band. After a prolonged incubation period, the band emerged with their debut release the Maps For Children. A five song ep that, though capturing a group relatively early in its development, contained many of the elements that would come to define the band. Tracks such as the opener Distance Equals Time which features chiming guitar figures interweaving over a tumult of bass and drums. Certain Boys contains the manic heights the band is capable of working itself into, while the elegiac closer Grace of Light finds the band at its most somber and resigned. Following the release of Maps For Children, the band experienced a protracted period of turbulence that threatened to make the ep the only document of a short lived musical project. However, the pull to soldier on proved strong and they experienced something of a rebirth with the supplanting of the rhythm section. Drummer Antonio Ninham and bassist Zach Steiner brought about a new sensibility that would propel the band toward a more expansive sound.
With this restructuring the band returned energized and soon released the single Panic, both as a means of reestablishing their presence and serving as a teaser for their forthcoming full length. Panic finds the band developing their existing sound with four on the floor rhythms beneath a swirl of shimmering production. The band is currently in the studio working on its debut full length.
